Number of Government Institutions and National NGOs Participating

Posted by: Daniel Reijer on Mon, 11 Oct 2004 07:55:32
Since the first domestic survey a wide range of government departments and national NGOs have been participating in the RF data collection process.

Table 1 clearly shows that the total number of government departments in developing countries/countries in transition that replied to the RF survey has declined over the years. For 1997, 601 government departments submitted financial data whereas for 2001 this number decreased to 384. In general, this trend can be seen in all regions, except for Eastern and Southern Europe. In this region more departments became involved in the 2001 RF survey.

The total number of national NGOs that have provided information on population and AIDS activities has increased significantly over the years. A total of 675 national NGOs responded to the 1997 RF survey, whereas 914 organisations participated in the 2001 round. Especially NGOs based in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean have shown more commitment to the RF project.
